Āholehole or Hawaiian flagtail is a endemic Hawaiian fish. Āholehole live in schools and like many of the silver reef fish in Hawaiʻi, they thrive in brackish water which means they can go back and forth from salt water to fresh. Juvenile āholehole can sometimes be found miles upstream and some Hawaiian kalo farmers would raise them along with other silver fish in their loʻi.
